Gum Disease

Kim Blair

Proper nutrition is needed to keep those pearly whites healthy.

When calcium is depleated in your body, your jaw bone begins to shrink, which loosenes your teeth, because the socket your teeth are in shrink too.
So your teeth slowly begin to pull away from the bone. As the teeth pull away from the gums, the gums become inflamed and bleed.

Diluted clove oil on the gums can soothe inflammation and may easy the pain.

Eating cashews will release the oils from the nut, which will inhibit plaque acids in your mouth.

A natural Tartar remover can be made with a mixture of sea salt and baking soda.

Know Your Calcium

Antacids are a bad way to get calcium because they lower your stomach acids which leads into many more problems.

Natural sources of Calcium:

Kelp
Soybeans
Sesame seeds
Almonds
Brewers yeast
Brazil nuts
Pistachios

Milk
Cheese
Cottage cheeses
Yogurt

Sardines
Salmon
Caviar

Cooked leafy green vegetables (beet greens, spoon cabbage, chard, kale, collards, mustard greens, turnip greens, dandelion greens, lamb's quarters)

Broccoli
Okra
Dried beans, Blackstrap molasses
Carob
Rhubarb

Natural sunlight, to the skin, helps send calcium from the stomach to the blood stream.

Remember if you take Calcium suppliments you should also take Magnesium.

Magnesium will help direct the Vitamin D to the places in your body that need it.

Otherwise the calcium can end up in places you don't want it, like your joints.
