Cold & Flu

Kim Blair

First I would like to mention, if you are allergic to any foods you are eating, you will surely have a harder time getting over any sickness, as your body tries to fight the alien it is allergic to. Please look at our Allergy Detective ebook at: www.AllergyDetective.com

Colds create mucus that is used to push out virus cells. If the mucus gets too thick to come out, it can go down into the bronchial tubes and cause bronchitis.

It is believed that most cold and flu viruses enter our bodies by our hands. The germ transfers from our hands to our nose and/or eyes.

A cold generally happens slowly, while the flu is a lot swifter and severe.

WHAT HELPS YOUR BODY HEAL ITSELF?

  • Powerful Vitamin C with bioflavonoids is our best weapon against colds and flu. Vitamin C is a natural antibiotic, and the bioflavonoids work on the immune system. Vitamin C also helps to keep your secretions thinned, which makes them easier to expel.
Papaya and Guava are full of vitamin C. Next would come strawberries and the inner rind, pulp & juice of citrus fruits.
  • Another help is 'Aged' Garlic. This can be found at your local health food store. Garlic helps produce an army of bacteria that will kill bad bacteria. Did you know garlic was used to heal people during the outbreak of the Plague?
Keep in mind; garlic is a natural blood thinner. Regular garlic is good, but use Aged Garlic when you really need something powerful that fights bacteria like an antibiotic!
  • Vitamin A - strengthens membranes in the nose, throat, and sinuses which helps expel mucus more effectively. Vitamin A has been called the anti-infection vitamin. Perhaps that is why old timers use to give their families Cod Liver Oil.
Cod liver oil is very potent with 50,000 units of Vitamin A in less than an ounce! You shouldn’t need much. The FDA recommends 25,000 units of Vitamin A per day. If you are pregnant only 10,000 units of Vitamin A per day.
Beta carotene which you will find in carrots, as well as all red, orange, and yellow fruits, will be converted into vitamin A in the liver and intestines.
  • Zinc has been recommended as a supplement. Zinc supplements must be balanced with copper. Zinc keeps immune systems strong, is an antibacterial, and is believed to repair lung tissues.
Zinc foods include: pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, black strap molasses, maple syrup, brewers yeast, whole grains, eggs.
  • Zinc gluconate Lozenges
  • Echincea puprurea helps your immune system.
